Motivational Monday #1: Be Stronger Than Your Excuses

It’s so hard to get back into a routine when you’re out of it, and making excuses as to why you’ll skip the things you need to do is not going to get you anywhere!

This one personally resonates with me, as I’ve been extraordinarily lazy the past few weeks. Not only have I been more lax in my work, but I’ve also been making excuses to skip my workouts everyday. When it comes to workouts, I’ve used all excuses in the book including “I’m too tired today, I didn’t get enough sleep, I’ll start tomorrow instead.” But then tomorrow comes and nothing changes. When it comes to work, I’ve been pushing things off to the next day or waiting until Monday to have a “fresh start.”

Let’s get out of that rut together and get back to doing what’s important—crushing our goals. Don’t limit yourself with excuses, be stronger than that! Find ways to break out of this state of mind preventing you from rising to your dreams!

How You Can Implement This In Your Life:

Create a schedule and stick to it!

Easier said than done, I totally get that…I’ve yet to fully conquer this myself. But we can atleast start by taking things one step at a time.

With trial and error, find the best schedule that works for you. Identify a few times during the day where you’re more alert and jot them down. Try and use these times to accomplish your goals!

Start your routine and as each day goes by, don’t let anything stop you from doing what you need to do. Be stronger than that! Think about this task as an automated task, similar to the other parts of your day.

You already have a routine, you just need to implement it in your framework! For example: You wake up, brush your teeth, eat breakfast, do your work, walk your dog, etc. Consider it another task that you must do. You wouldn’t skip brushing your teeth, so don’t skip what are trying to accomplish!

The mindset you choose to have can be the difference between you sticking to your goals or having to start all over again!

Write down your goals:

Jot down three priorities you have for the day, and one main goal you want to achieve this week. Don’t write any other goals down besides the most important ones—it’s easy to get overwhelmed if there’s too much to do.

No matter what happens, be stronger than your excuses. Find the time and resources to complete those goals. Whether it’s asking others for help, carving out time in your schedule and blocking it on your calendar, or forcing yourself to do the action no matter how much you don’t want to, try your hardest to achieve the goals you wrote down.

Make sure to check off your goals after you’ve completed them!

Dig deeper:

If you still feel like you’re not accomplishing what you need to, or making excuses for no reason, dig deeper.

Is there a real reason why you’re not able to do it? Are you scared of failing? Is there a related personal issue?

Make a list of every worst case scenario….and now go back and make a list of every best case scenario. Chances are, the pros outweigh the cons, and you’ll never know until you try!

Surround yourself with the right people:

And while you’re at it, make sure you surround yourself with the right people. It’s harder to accomplish your goals when the people around you couldn’t care or shut down your ideas.

Find people that will motivate you, inspire you, and that will help you get to where you need to be!
